Construction Pathways

Who We Are: The Future Construction Leaders Education Committee is made up of construction professionals passionate about inspiring San Diego County high school students to explore careers in construction.

What We Do: Through career fairs, classroom presentations, and other student-driven activities, we introduce high school students to the many paths available in the construction industry.

  • Career Fairs & Presentations – By bringing in professionals from all levels of construction, we give students the chance to hear personal stories, learn about apprenticeship programs in the area, and gain insight into potential careers and salaries.

  • Mentorship – Most importantly, we build lasting relationships with schools, serving as mentors and resources to both educators and students as they explore rewarding futures in construction.

FCL Professional Learning Community

In 2025, FCL launched the Professional Learning Community (PLC) with a goal to strengthen construction education and career pathways within the K–12 system. This group will bring together high school construction instructors to collaborate, share best practices, and align efforts that support student success in the construction field.

OUR GOALS:

  • Share ideas and classroom strategies that engage students in construction and skilled trades.

  • Discuss current challenges facing construction education programs.

  • Explore partnerships that connect students to real-world experiences and career opportunities.

  • Support FCL’s mission to develop strong, sustainable pathways in the construction arena.
