Volunteer Opportunities

Help us develop tomorrow's construction leaders today.

Whether you can give an hour, a day, or a week, we would love for you to share your expertise and time with students considering a career in construction.

Block Kids Building Program

We need judges to support the award-winning Block Kids Building Program which introduces elementary school children to construction industry careers at an early age. Sponsored by local National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) chapters, the competition is free for the students and challenges the participants’ imagination in constructing a structure or project using interlocking blocks. Local winners advance to the regional, and possibly national, competition.   More information →

Camp NAWIC San Diego was created in 2008 as a community outreach to encourage high-school-age girls to pursue a career in the construction industry. The free, one-week, girls-only camp exposes campers to basic skills in construction such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, landscaping, heavy equipment, surveying, and masonry. We need volunteers in these fields to mentor students.  More information →

Design Drafting Competition

The Design Drafting Competition needs judges, mentors, and licensed architects and/or engineers to ensure its success. The competition challenges San Diego County high school students to demonstrate creative designs, craftsmanship, and successful problem-solving skills through preparation of architectural drawings. The competition, sponsored by the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF), introduces students to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while building confidence and fostering a sense of self-worth. Local and regional winners move on to national-level competition, where they receive additional monetary prizes.  More information →
